With E&P activities increasing and new blocks & concessions being awarded in Libya, Angola, Tanzania, Madagascar, Kenya,
Mozambique, East Timor, Indonesia, PNG, India, Cambodia, Sakhalin, Australia, Latin America, Middle East and other CIS countries, companies and countries involved would need to gear up with better knowledge and expertise in upstream contract negotiations. As oil prices remain high, a number of hitherto marginal projects are being revisited. In these circumstances, it is critical to have a clear understanding of the issues surrounding negotiations of agreements in areas where the margin for error is seriously reduced (particularly where the agreement being negotiated may be a “first” for a jurisdiction). This seminar addresses these issues before turning to the more
sensitive area of dispute resolution. With the opening up of new markets, and the conclusion of new forms of agreement, comes an increased scope for misunderstanding. Drawing on practical experience, this seminar will address how to deal with it should a project
lapse into a dispute.
